Youth ages 8-13 have until Wednesday, July 10, to register for Camp H.E.R.O. (Honor, Excellence, Respect, Opportunity), which will be held July 15-19 at Crestview Middle School. Some of the camp instructors and counselors are shown with representatives of the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA and Huntington University, which has joined with the Huntington County Sheriff's Department to sponsor the camp. Holding the camp banner are (from left) Scott Craft, of the YMCA; Wayne Huff, Huntington Fire Department; Kende Hare, Parkview EMS; and Ashley Smith, Huntington University; and (back row from left), Chief Tim Albertson, Huntington Fire Department; Chief E.J. Carroll, Huntington Police Department; Brian Double, Huntington Police Department; Amy Wells, Parkview EMS; Sheriff Terry Stoffel; and Chris Newton and Rod Jackson, Huntington County Sheriff's Department. The day camp, which will include one overnight stay, offers an up close look at the jobs public safety agencies perform and helps youth learn how to stay safe and make good decisions.
