Film historian to speak at July 17 historical society meeting

Film historian Wes Gehring will be the guest speaker at the July 17 meeting of the Huntington County Historical Society.

The meeting, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 7 p.m. at the Huntington County Historical Museum, 315 Court St., Huntington. Refreshments will be served.

Gehring will use film clips to explore the Hoosier state in motion picture history from early Hollywood through today. Drawing on research gathered from his 30-plus books, he will discuss the importance of many Indiana performers including Carole Lombard, James Dean, Irene Dunn, Steve McQueen and many others.
