Five vying for MIss Huntington crown

Five young women - Ashley Rethlake, Alli Harris, Lauren Petersen, Lindsey Berggren and Stephanie Spitnale - are in the running for the title of Miss Huntington 2010.

One of the five will be crowned during the Miss Huntington Scholarship Pageant, which will be presented on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. in the Huntington North High School auditorium.

The reining Miss Huntington, Mallory Bunting, will be on hand to crown her successor.

Bunting, as well as each of the five contestants, will perform during the afternoon presentation.

Rethlake, of Huntington, will perform a pop vocal tune. She is a 17-year-old Huntington North High School senior and the daughter of Troy and Melinda Rethlake.

Harris will also perform a pop vocal number. The 19-year-old Huntington resident is a freshman at Purdue University. Her parents are Ken and Bev Harris.

Petersen, of Bluffton, will perform a selection on the piano. She is a 21-year-old junior at Ball State University and is the daughter of Deborah Petersen.

Berggren, a senior at Huntington North High School, will perform a guitar/vocal number. The 17-year-old Huntington resident is the daughter of Jeff and Kelly Berggren.

Spitnale, of Defiance, OH, will perform a pop vocal number. She is a 21-year-old Huntington University junior and the daughter of Brad and Becky Spitnale.

The winner of the Miss Huntington 2010 title will go on to compete in the Miss Indiana Pageant, which will be held in June 2010 in Zionsville.

The Miss Huntington Pageant is sponsored by the Huntington Optimist Cub and co-directors are Ruth Marsh and Sandy Stephan.
