Monday, August 26, 2013 7:38 AM
The Purdue Extension Office of Huntington County will hold an open house on Sept. 8 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Gathering Place in Huntington celebrating the retirement of Administrative Assistant Carol Holmes.
Holmes has served the Extension office for 22 years.
Her last day is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 30.
Well-wishers are invited to send a card to Holmes at Purdue Extension Huntington County, 354 N. Jefferson St., Suite 202, Huntington, IN 46750.
During Holmes' years of employment with the office, she was actively involved with many community groups. Her extracurricular undertakings included serving on the 4-H Queen Contest Committee, and she is currently the County Secretary for the Huntington County Extension Homemakers - a group she has been a part of for 16 years.
Holmes plans to spend her retirement with her husband of 40 years, Ed Holmes.
