State corn husking contest set for Oct. 5 in Bremen field

The 2013 Indiana Corn Husking Contest will be Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Bremen.
Craig Geyer farm will host the contest that is open to all who enjoy old-fashioned corn husking.
Participants in the timed contest husk corn from one row, throwing the ears into a horse-drawn wagon. The corn is then weighed and inspected for excess husks. Classes vary from 10 to 20 minutes.
The contests are open to both men and women of various age groups.
Team husking is a new event; four members husking for five minutes each.
Spectators will not be charged for admittance however there is a cost per person to compete.
The Geyer Farm is located at 20565 Tyler Rd., Bremen.
