A slew of updates have been made to the interior and exterior of The Northview Church of Christ.

Church member Kirsten Lautzenhiser was heavily involved with the remodel and says the focus was on the children's worship centers, where murals were painted on the walls in hopes of engaging children more.

The entire inside of the building saw updates, she says, as well as a new roof on the outside.

"The purpose is to spark interest," she adds.

The renovation began on July 3 and wrapped up during the last week of August.

Lautzenhiser says everyone in the church was involved, as well as some community volunteers.

The church will celebrate the updates with an open house on Sept. 21, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with music, a pulled pork meal, snacks and games.

Regular church services are offered every Sunday with Sunday school at 9 a.m. and worship at 10:30 a.m. The church also offers various prayer groups for all ages from pre-teen to Seniors.

For more information contact the church at 356-2583, or Rev. Doug Shaw at 444-1873.

The church also has a Facebook page that can be found by searching "Northview CoC" at the site.

Office hours are from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The Northview Church of Christ is located at 2900 N. Jefferson St., Huntington.
