Disabled veterans take part in dove hunt on Sept. 1
Monday, September 16, 2013 7:47 AM
Nineteen disabled veterans and guides took part in a dove hunt at Roush Lake on Sept. 1.
This was the second annual dove hunt for disabled veterans sponsored by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Roush Lake management team and the Huntington County Veterans Council.
Participants in the hunt were supplied with hunting permits and ammunition.
The Huntington County Veterans Council provided a field lunch and refreshments for the day.
The Roush Lake management team positioned hunting stations in a field surrounded by feeding plots and sources of water.
Organizers report that each hunter and guide downed several birds.
The hunt is held annually on the opening day of dove season.
Anyone interested in participating in next year's hunt should call the Huntington County Veterans Service Office at 358-4863.
