HCCSC board passes administrative salary schedule

Other topics discussed during the Huntington County Community School Corporation Board of Trustees meeting on Oct. 12 include passing the administrative salary schedule, the personnel report, budget action and appointing a trustee to the Warren Library Board.

The administrative salary schedule was approved 5-2. Those voting with the majority were board Vice President Rick Brubaker and members Dr. Jennifer Goff, Tom King, Troy Smart and Rex Baxter. Those opposed were Board President Kevin Patrick and member Scott Hoffman.

The schedule was approved to be retroactive to July 1 of this year and will increase the base salary 2.25 percent beginning Jan. 1, 2010. Administrators would begin paying 10 percent to the medical insurance premium but then an increase would be added to offset the contribution.

In the personnel report, the following were approved:

New certified staff - Adrienne Platt, sixth grade language arts/social studies at Salamonie.

New classified staff - Roma Bovenmyer, bus assistant for transportation; Jamie Poland, recess supervisor at Flint Springs.

New ECA employee - Scott Bower, eightth grade boys' basketball at Riverview.

Leave of absence request - Chrisine Nicholson, art at Riverview, Jan. 28 2010, to end of the 2009-2010 school year.

Long-term substitute - Lisa Geller, kindergarten at Andrews.

Also, the following plans were approved; 2010-2012 Capital Projects Plan, 2010-2021 Bus Replacement Plan, 2010 Tax Neutrality Resolution (Pension Bond) and the 2010 budget.

Also, Joseph Haney was appointed by the HCCSC board to serve on the Warren Library Board. He is from Warren and HCCSC Superintendent of Schools Tracey Shafer said Haney was the only applicant for the position.
