For those who enjoy touring the Haunted Hotel: 13th Floor in Huntington each fall, they can also look forward to checking out the Haunted Cave, in Fort Wayne, which is now under the same management.

Brett Molitor, manager of the Haunted Hotel: 13th Floor, says he saw a chance to expand his business.

"We thought it was a great opportunity," he says. "We've always wanted to get into the Fort Wayne market."

Both venues open for the season this week.

The hotel opens its doors Thursday, Sept. 26, and will be open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday through Nov. 2. Hours are 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursdays and 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

The cave welcomes visitors Friday, Sept. 27, and
will be open every Friday and Saturday through Nov. 2.

Starting the week of Oct. 6, it will also be open every Sunday and Thursday, including the Wednesday before Halloween. Friday and Saturday hours will be 7 p.m. to midnight. All other days will be 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

For the second year, the theme for Thursdays at the hotel will be "Myctophobia," which is the fear of darkness. Lights will be shut off and groups of two to three people will proceed through the hotel with only a small flashlight to light the way.

"We've had groups in there for as long as an hour and 45 minutes," says Molitor.

A new feature at the hotel this year will be a secret passage that separates groups.

"Part of the group is going to be able to actually help scare their group," Molitor states. "When they find the secret passage, then they're going to go ahead of their group and then wait for their group and then jump out and scare their group as they come through."

Molitor notes that the cave, which he took over in August, will feature a new torture room this year.
There is a fee to attend to both venues, with a combination ticket offered that grants admission to both.
A Fast Pass will also be available for purchase, which offers access to the front of the line.

A portion of this year's proceeds will be donated to the Huntington County Sheriff's Reserve Fund.

Additionally, the Huntington North High School Band Boosters were provided with 100 tickets to sell and will get to keep 100 percent of the profits.

The Haunted Hotel: 13th Floor is located at 511 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. The Haunted Cave is at 4410 Arden Drive, Fort Wayne.
