Property tax delinquencies now also owe 5 percent penalty, says treasurer
Wednesday, November 27, 2013 7:20 AM
Huntington County property taxes not paid by Nov. 12 are considered overdue, Huntington County Treasurer Brenda Hamilton says.
Residents who did not pay the second installment of property taxes by the due date now owe a 5 percent penalty.
Dec. 12 is the last day to pay taxes with a 5 percent penalty. Payments received after Dec. 12 will have an additional 5 percent penalty added.
Only parcels with no previous delinquencies are charged a 5 percent penalty. If any spring, first installment taxes or older taxes due from a previous year are delinquent the penalty applied is automatically set at 10 percent.
Bring payments or mail them to the Huntington County Treasurer's Office, 201 N. Jefferson St., Room 104, Huntington, IN 46750.
The treasurer's office is located in the Huntington County Court House. Entrance to the courthouse is located on Jefferson Street.
