Youth chess program begins at library

Huntington City-Township Public Library invites children in grades 6 to 12 to participate in "It's Chess Time @ Your Library," a series of two programs to be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays, Feb. 20 and Feb. 27, at the main library.
On Thursday, Feb. 20, teens will play practice games to learn the rules of chess and build strategy and skills. Chess instructors Jack Oberholtzer, Kevin McCracken and John Martinez will be on hand to offer assistance.
On Thursday, Feb. 27, teens will participate in a chess tournament, supervised by the chess instructors.
The program is free and open to everyone ages 12 to 18.
Snacks will be provided.
Registration is required to attend. To register call the main library at 356-2900.
