An operator from Zahm Excavating gently knocks a row of bricks from the front of the former Miller's Pub building, in Andrews, on Thursday, Feb. 27. The building, which had a noticeable lean, was vacated last August after a structural engineer recommended that the structure be either shored up or demolished. Owner Chuck Miller said he didn't have the funds to pay for repairs, so the town of Andrews assumed the costs of demolition. Andrews Town Clerk Bill Johnson says Miller plans to transfer the property, which includes an adjacent empty lot, to the town. Because setback requirements won't allow the construction of another building on the site, Johnson says, town leaders are considering installing a gazebo and benches for a park-like site.
