Victory Noll Center offers programs during Lent

The Victory Noll Center is offering several programs and retreats during Lent.

Community members are invited to take part in Bread for the World's Offering of Letters, writing letters to lawmakers in support of federal programs that help hungry and poor people.

The Victory Noll Center will be open for the Offering of Letters on March 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Information, writing materials and addresses of legislators will be available for those who want to write letters. There is no cost and no registration for the event.

The "Way of the Desert" directed retreat will be offered twice during March. The first session is from March 23 at 5 p.m. through March 26 at 3:30 p.m.

A second session will be held March 27 at 5 p.m. through March 30 at 3:30 p.m.

Retreat leaders are Sue Wilhelm, director of the Victory Noll Center, and Nancy Brousseu.

The retreats focus on silence, solitude and prayer designed to draw participants closer to God. Participants usually spend three to five hour-long periods a day in prayer. They may also take part in Centering Prayer and group Lectio Divina.

The retreat fee includes a single occupancy room and meals. Each retreat is limited to 10 participants.

Individuals and groups are welcome to walk the outdoor Stations of the Cross on the Victory Noll property daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m, weather permitt-ting. Visitors must check in at the front desk of the Victory Noll administration building. Station booklets will be available.

There is no cost to visit the Stations of the Cross.
