Sheets Museum to show free movie
Thursday, March 6, 2014 8:32 AM
Sheets Wildlife Museum and Learning Center will hold a free movie day on Saturday, March 8. The movie will start at 10:30 a.m. and will last about 75 minutes.
The presentation will be a two-part film on Alaska. The first movie will be Wild Alaska. It will be a visual portrait of wildlife on The Last Frontier. Shot in some of the most remote regions of Alaska, this program takes the viewer in close, into habitat and viewing areas rarely visited. It captures the grand scale of Alaska's wilderness and the intimate relationships of animal life within it.
The second movie is Alaska's Sea Life. Slowly, powerfully, the majestic killer whale makes its way from the warm waters of Hawaii to the frigid waters of Alaska in its effort to store up food for the long winter. Brightly-colored puffins fly overhead and then plunge deep into the sea. Below the surface, salmon overcome men, bears and the elements to continue their relentless trek to a certain death. This is the world of Alaska's sea life.
Afterward, there will be an easy quiz with the top three youth receiving a gift certificate to be used in the museum gift shop.
Seating is limited; call 356-9453 to reserve a seat.
