Kaylie Killian was recently honored with the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award from the local Samuel Huntington DAR chapter. Her name has been added to the Samuel Huntington DAR Good Citizens Madonna of the Trails statuette displayed in the awards case at Huntington North High School. One HNHS senior is honored annually.

The four qualities of a DAR Good Citizen are dependability, service, leadership and patriotism, and these are considered the foundation for the award.
Killian's essay titled "Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility for Preserving It" was read by her at the meeting.

Her essay and scholarship application was sent to the Indiana DAR Good Citizen chairman to be judged along with the other high school Good Citizens throughout the state.
