HU sets summer camp for young actors
Thursday, March 20, 2014 7:50 AM
Huntington University will host its annual Summer Theater Youth Camp from June 23 to July 12 for youth in grades two through 12.
This year's musical is "Disney's Aladdin Jr." Characters from Disney's hit film return to the stage for a musical adventure filled with magic, mayhem and flying carpet rides. Join Aladdin, Jasmine, Iago, Jafar, the Genie and more as they tell this tale of a street rat who becomes a prince.
The camp will begin June 23 and run through July 12. Campers will meet 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Camp will not meet on July 4. At the end of the session, campers will present two performances of the musical at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on July 12.
During their time at camp, campers will learn acting, singing and dancing skills. Children will also learn about developing language and communication abilities, creativity, social awareness, a positive self-concept and empathy as well as gaining an understanding of the art of theater.
There is a fee to attend the camp, which rises if paid after June 13. Checks can be made payable to Huntington University Summer Theatre Camp.
To register, contact Nancy Barnes at firstname.lastname@example.org or 359-4262.
