The Huntington County Commissioners have declared the week of April 27 as Soil and Water Stewardship Week.

This is the 59th year for Stewardship Week, sponsored by the National Associaiton of Conservation Districts.

Locally, the Huntington County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) has distributed educational materials to schools and set up an informational display in the Duke Energy window in keeping with the week's theme, "Dig Deeper: Mysteries in the Soil."

The SWCD has been in existence in Huntington County for more than 50 years. It partners with other agencies to work with landowners on the wise use
of conservation practices that will help protect soil, water quality and other natural resources.

Kyle Lund, Ned Ruble, Andy Ambriole, Joe Landrum and Dick Norwood serve as supervisors for the Huntington County SWCD, with Cheryl Jarrett serving as office manager.

For more information, call the local SWCD office at 356-6816, extension 3, or visit www.huntingtonswcd.org.
