The LaFontaine Arts Council honored five Huntington North High School students as Artists of the Month for April.

Hannah Scher, daughter of Mia and Chris Scher, was nominated by Joe Haft in the area of art.

Haft says, "Hannah is motivated and creative. Her work is outstanding and she has won awards in scholastics and local universities' competitions. She is also working as an intern for the art department this semester."

In the future she hopes to attend Indiana University-Purdue University, Fort Wayne and attain a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and later moving to the east coast to pursue a graduate degree in art restoration.

Stuart Elmore, son of Don and Kathy Elmore, was nominated by Dan Baker, in the area of vocal music.
Baker says "Stuart is one of the primary reasons the choral department has seen renewed success this year. His positive attitude, patience and work ethic inspires everyone that works with him to strive for his or her very best. He is an extremely talented musician, who writes his own arrangements. He truly deserves this artist of the month nomination for his tireless work with Varsity Singers and the choral department."

In the future, he hopes to attend Ball State University to obtain a bachelor's degree in business administration and music production.

Eden Conley, daughter of Tara Welker and Matthew Conley, was nominated by Dan Baker in the area of auditorium crew.

Baker says, "Eden is consistent with her work and dedication with the auditorium crew. She has worked several events without breaks and continues to volunteer with a positive spirit and smile. Her knowledge of the theatrical terms and procedures have increased greatly this year. She also is generous and extremely kind to every person she encounters."

She hopes to attend Manchester University and earn a bachelor's degree in peace studies.

Casey Richman, daughter of Mark and Amy Richman, was nominated by Richard Spenner in the area of theatre arts.

She has been involved in melodrama, the variety show and the One Act Play Festival for three years, the fall play for one year, a student of beginning theatre arts and advanced theatre. She plans to attend Ball State University to study psychology.

Elizabeth Reed, daughter of April and Dale Reed, was nominated by Joshua Huff in the area of band.

Huff says, "Elizabeth is a very talented musician who has been consistently dedicated to becoming the best. She has overcome some adversity this year and has not missed a performance. She performed two solos at state solo and ensemble and received gold raitings all while battling mono. Her talent and dedication to our band has helped transform our band program." She plans to attend the University of Evansville to study music therapy and music education.
