Dylan Gray, of Uniondale, was one of 25 students, two alumni and one faculty member to be inducted into the Eckerd College chapter of Phi Beta Kappa during a ceremony on May 15 in St. Petersburg, FL.

Gray is a 2011 graduate of Huntington North High School and will be a senior at Eckerd next year majoring in psychology and sociology. Gray was selected as a Peter Pav Scholar his freshman year at Eckerd and at the end of his sophomore year was selected as a Ford Scholar for his junior and senior years.

Gray is the son of Michael Gray, Fort Wayne, and Chris Droke, Uniondale.

Founded in 1776, Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest society for recognition of academic excellence and scholarly achievement. Students do not apply for membership but are selected during the spring semester each year by the Phi Beta Kappa chapter as a whole, after a careful review of the academic records of each eligible candidate. While members are generally elected in their senior year, the chapter may elect deserving juniors as well.
