Library open house for retiring Holst is set for Friday, June 13

The Huntington City-Township Public Library Board of Trustees invite the community to attend an open house in honor of outgoing library director Kathy Holst, to be held at the Main Library on Friday, June 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

Holst is retiring from Huntington City-Township Public Library after serving as Library Director for nearly 31 years. She began her tenure in November 1983, replacing outgoing director Jim Godsey.

As director, she spearheaded the move from the original 1903 Carnegie building to its current location, and helped develop HCTPL's extensive Indiana Room collection of local history and genealogy resources. She led HCTPL through the transition from printed books and paper card catalogs to the digital age of Internet, ebooks and online databases.

Holst also guided the expansion of the library district during the merging of the Markle Public Library district with the HCTPL district in 2003, and oversaw the latest expansion of the current library building in 2010.

The HCTPL Main Library is located at 255 W. Park Drive, Huntington.
