Gary Snyder has announced that he plans to be a candidate for the second district seat on the Huntington County Community School Corporation's board of trustees.

That seat is currently held by Kevin Patrick, who previously announced that he does not plan to seek re-election. Matt Roth, a local attorney, has also announced plans to seek the second district seat on the school board.

Snyder is president and co-founder of Indiana Talks Radio Network and a radio talk show host. He previously hosted The Gary Snyder Show on 1400 WBAT and 1190 WOWO and worked as an anti-money laundering officer for a financial services firm. He has served in the United States Army and the Indiana Army National Guard. He was elected to the Taylor Community School Board, in Kokomo, in 2006, serving until he moved out of the district for employment.

"I look forward to meeting the voters of the second district to better understand their vision for Huntington's outstanding public schools," says Snyder.

"First and foremost though, this campaign is about the children of Huntington County and ensuring they continue to get a world class public education. We must also not lose focus on the educators and parents teaching our children, both at school and at home, and continue to support their roles as teachers."

Snyder and his wife Pepper live in Huntington and are the parents of seven children. They have three grandchildren and have also served as foster parents in Huntington County.
