New Hope single parent seminar starts on Sept. 3

The New Hope Church, located at 2001 Engle St., Huntington, will offer a 13-week seminar on "Single and Parenting."

The seminars/small group will begin on Sept. 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the Colonial Room of the church. The seminars will be over at 8 p.m.

In the state of Indiana, 37 percent of parents are single parents. The sessions are designed to offer education, help and encouragement to those single parents.

Children ages 3 through fifth grades can be enrolled in Pioneer Clubs, a program for children. Pioneer Clubs offers a light dinner each evening at 5:30 p.m.

"Single and Parenting" is a curriculum recently published by Church Initiatives and covers the following themes: 1) Tired and Overwhelmed; 2) Your Children and Your Fears; 3) Rest and Comfort; 4) Money and Career; 5) Parenting Goals and Expectations; 6) Suffering and Adversity; 7) Emotions and Stability; 8) Parenting Tools and Projects; 9) Parenting Approaches and God's Love; 10) Talking and Listening; 11) Conflict and Resolution; 12) Dating and Sexuality.

Each session will have a time of sharing, a 40-minute video and a discussion based upon the notebook that every parent will receive.

Ray Seilhamer will facilitate the seminars with the assistance of other people who have been single parents.
