Huntington Bicycle Challenge raises about $9K

Approximately $9,000 was raised to benefit two local causes by the 11th annual Huntington Bicycle Challenge held on Saturday, Sept. 20.

Approximately 130 participants had their choice of five different road courses for the event, presented by Pathfinder Services and Parkview Home Health and Hospice and title sponsored by First Federal Savings Bank.

Beneficiaries of the fund-raising are Pathfinder Community Supports, which assists teenagers with developmental disabilities to attend summer camp, and Parkview Home Health & Hospice for its quality, end-of-life care for the terminally ill.

The Business Team Challenge was won by Fort Wayne Outfitters, comprised of Tim Hall, Dodd Kattman, Dave Lewis, Greg Ness, Gary Painter and Henry Swinty.

Finishing second on the 24-mile course was the locally-sponsored team of Spokesmen Cycling, which included Todd Anderson, Joe Bartels, Carl Ring, Wesley Ring, Matt Tescula and Brendan Wise.

A second Fort Wayne Outfitters team took third, and was comprised of Don Cohill, Shaun Fitzgerald, Melissa Leo, Bill Lambert, Matt Misner, Paul Mowery and Denny Zech.

Winning the top all-women's team award was Fort Wyane Outfitters, with riders Kathy Boling, Charlotte Schmitz and Amy Woods.

Second place among the women's teams went to the Three Rivers Velo Sports team of Angela Dulcet, Cassie Kline, Susan Morgan, Emily Payonk, Justine Viera and Mona Will.
