Volunteers sought to help clean CR 200W

Volunteers are being sought to help clean up CR 200W (Salamonie Road) between Waterworks and Division roads on April 4.

The project is being coordinated by Allison Timbrook, volunteer coordinator for the City of Huntington.

Although that stretch of road is not inside city limits, Timbrook says, it does lead into the city.

A Salamonie Road resident suggested the project, she adds.

“I want to create an awareness of keeping the roads leading into the city clean,” Timbrook says.

Anyone willing to volunteer should call Timbrook at 358-2323.

The cleanup will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on April 4, and volunteers should meet at the Chief LaFontaine Saddle Club, 792N-200W, at 8:30 a.m. for instructions.

A breakfast of juice, coffee, fruit and doughnuts will be available,.

The volunteers will be picking up trash along the road, and plastic gloves, trash bags, reflective vests and traffic direction will be provided.

Participants should bring work gloves and wear weather-appropriate clothing, including boots and old clothes or shoes.
