Huntington County Right to Life hears reports on fund-raisers

During the July Huntington County Right to Life meeting, it was decided to once again run the Wannababies pro-life advertisements in the Huntington North High School newspaper, the Campus. This will be the 25th year the informational ads have been placed in the school paper.

A final report was given on the Mother’s Day weekend carnation sale. Receipts amounted to $4,503.05 minus expenditures of $2,861.03, leaving a net profit of $1,642.02.

Pat Bickel reported the 2014 Little Christmas Sock Project has had 414 responses and $6,969 in donations. Proceeds from the project help cover office expenses.

Dixie Harrold reported on a response to the 2015 Annual Appeal. Fifty dollars was received from the Union Church, $25 from the Heritage Church of Christ and $50 from Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters.

Carolyn Ehler reported memberships for 2015 have reached 254 of which 14 are first-time members.

At the office during June, Bickel reported there were five requests for pro-life items and 25 donations. Twenty-one individuals requested assistance with family or pregnancy-related items.

The following assistance was given:  19 packs of diapers, nine packs of baby wipes, three baby care products, clothes for five children, baby formula for three, baby food/cereal for one and four miscellaneous items were provided.

Upcoming projects include the “People’s Choice” baby photo contest in conjunction with the 4-H Fair July 25 to 29.

The next monthly meeting will be held Thursday, Aug. 6, at 7 p.m. at the office, 34 E. Washington St., Huntington.
