Organizations accept donations for Haiti

Thousands are dead and an unknown number have been left homeless after an earthquake devastated Port-au-Prince, the capital city of Haiti, on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
Here’s how you can help:

• The American Red Cross is accepting cash donations. Checks can be made out to the Huntington County Chapter of the American Red Cross, with “Haiti AP 2885” written in the memo section of personal checks. Checks can be dropped off at or mailed to the local chapter at 354 N. Jefferson St., Suite 203, Huntington, IN 46750.

• Catholic Relief Services, the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic church in the United States, is responding to Haiti. To donate, call 1-877-HELP-CRS; visit www.crs.org; or mail a check to Catholic Relief Services, PO Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 21203. Write “Haiti Earthquake” in the memo portion of the check.

• Huntington University Alumni Brad and Vanessa Johnson are serving in Haiti with Mission of Hope. They are accepting donations online at www.missionofhopehaiti.org.
