Ryan Warner was presented with the Huntington University Foundation’s Distinguished Service Award during the foundation’s annual dinner on Sept. 24.

The award is presented each year to an individual or company whose life or mission embodies the principles associated with the mission of Huntington University.

Warner, who grew up near the HU campus, is president and CEO of Bippus State Bank, in Huntington.

Also during the evening, foundation President Holly Sale presented a check for $41,697 to Dr. Sherilyn Emberton, university president.

The funds will provide support to 36 Huntington University students from Huntington County.

The foundation raises funds annually for the awards to Huntington County students. Sale says the foundation hopes to surpass the $42,000 mark in awards to local students next year.

Guest speaker Mike Nutter, team president of the Fort Wayne TinCaps, discussed his faith journey, his role as president of the TinCaps and current information on the ball club.
