Parkview Huntington Hospital earns top honor by accreditor

Parkview Huntington Hospital has been recognized as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® for 2014 by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in the United States. The distinction for the hospital was included in The Joint Commission’s 2015 annual report, “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for pneumonia, surgical care, venous thromboembolism (VTE) and immunization.

The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on evidence-based interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients with certain conditions, including heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, children’s asthma, stroke, venous thromboembolism and perinatal care, as well as for inpatient psychiatric services and immunizations.

“We’re pleased and proud to receive this distinction from The Joint Commission,” said Juli Johnson, president, Park-view Huntington Hospital. “The best possible patient outcomes – delivered with unwavering attention to safety and quality – are always our highest priority. Top Performer recognition provides an objective measure of our performance, enabling our patients and their families to be confident they’ll receive outstanding care at Parkview Huntington Hospital.”

To earn Top Performer recognition, each hospital had to meet three performance criteria based on 2014 accountability measure data, including:

• Achieving cumulative performance of 95 percent or above across all reported accountability measures.

• Achieving performance of 95 percent or above on each and every reported accountability measure for which there were at least 30 denominator cases.

• Having at least one core measure set that had a composite rate of 95 percent or above, and (within that measure set) all applicable individual accountability measures had a performance rate of 95 percent or above.

In addition to Parkview Huntington Hospital, six other Parkview Health hospitals were recognized for their achievements in the following areas:

• Parkview Regional Medical Center – Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Pneumonia, Stroke and Perinatal Care.

• Parkview Hospital Randallia – Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Pneumonia, Stroke and Perinatal Care.
