Several members of the Huntington North High School band received gold ratings in Group 1 district judging, held at Eastbrook High School, in Marion, on Saturday, Jan. 30.
Those members earning gold designations qualified for the state competition, set for Saturday, Feb. 27, at North Central High School, in Indianapolis.
Emily Paulette led all Huntington North band members with three gold ratings. She received those designations in alto saxophone solo, tenor saxophone solo and saxophone choir.
Members attaining two gold ratings were Kaitlyn Burkhart, trumpet trio, flugelhorn solo; Katie Hunt, trumpet trio, trumpet solo; Jacque Jackson, bari saxophone solo, saxophone choir; and Emma Woolard, alto saxophone solo, saxophone choir.
Members earning a gold rating included Bethany Brunner, flute solo; Brendan Hoover, saxophone choir; Austin Horn, trombone solo; William Hutchens, saxophone choir; Wyatt Landrum, piano solo; Bailey Latta, saxophone choir; Levi Lehman, trumpet trio; Eric Lehmkuhle, baritone solo; Zachary Lippe, clarinet solo; and Philip Zahm, trumpet solo.
In Group 2 and 3 judging, members earning gold ratings were Jacob Herz, brass trio; Jacque Jackson, tenor saxophone solo; Clark Kitchen, trumpet solo; Alexandra Koch, trumpet solo; Levi Lehman, trumpet solo; Jordan Neal, bassoon solo; David Sikora, brass trio; and Ethan Smart, brass trio. Mariah Okuly earned a silver rating for flute solo while LaShawn Putt received a bronze designation for flute solo.
