School board approves hirings, requests

The Huntington County Community School Corporation Board of Trustees approved the hiring of several people during its regular meeting on Feb. 9.

They include:
• Tammy Day, paraprofessional at Lincoln Elementary School.
• Tom Hammond, head custodian at Andrews Elementary School.
• Lisa Hoke, driver of the Book Worm vehicle, which is stationed at the Instructional Service Center.
• E.J. Carroll, assistant boys' golf coach at Huntington North High School.
• Barbara Gressley, seventh-grade girls' track coach at Crestview Middle School.
• Brian Milton, seventh-grade boys' track coach at Crestview Middle School.

The board also approved a leave of absence for Julie Hale, grade 3 at Lancaster Elementary School, from approximately March 17 through May 5.

Trustees also approved a number of requests during their Feb. 9 meeting. They include:

Field trips
• HNHS girls' swim team, permission to participate in the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) girls state swim meet at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Feb. 13-14.
• HNHS gymnastics team, permission to participate in the North Central Conference (NCC) gymnastics meet in Muncie Feb. 20-21.
• HNHS wrestling team, permission to participate in the IHSAA wrestling state meet at Center Grove High School, Indianapolis, Feb. 20-21.
• HNHS boys swim team, permission to participate in the IHSAA boys state swim meet at IUPUI Feb. 27-28.
• HNHS DECA, permission to participate in the state DECA contest at the Marriott in Indianapolis March 1-3.
• Riverview eighth grade choir, permission to participate in the Music in the Parks contest at Lebannon Middle School, Lebannon, OH, and visit Kings Island, May 2.

Donations
• HNHS, permission to accept a donation from Land O-Lakes Foundation to establish the greenhouse in the amount of $500.
• HNHS, permission to accept a donation from North Central Co-op for the greenhouse in the amount of $500.
• HNHS, permission to accept a LACE (local anti-drug coalition effort) grant awarded to Karen Batt for use with the freshman mentoring program in the amount of $1,350.
