Property tax statements are scheduled to be mailed April 15

Property tax statements are scheduled to be mailed April 15. Those who do not receive a tax statement by the end of April should contact the county treasurer’s office at 358-4860.

Failure to receive a tax statement by mail does not relieve the taxpayer of his or her responsibility for payment and penalties when delinquent.

Taxpayers may visit the Huntington County website for tax information at www.huntington.in.us. Choose County, then GIS and search by name, address or parcel number. Tax amounts due can be found under Tax History, Detail, 2015 Pay 2016. On the right side are the Tax amounts owed to the County Treasurer.

Prior delinquencies, if applicable, roll into the current year.

The first installment payments will be accepted through May 10. The Treasurer’s office will be open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to noon. The Courthouse will be closed for Primary Election Day on Tuesday, May 3. Only cash, money orders and checks will be accepted in the County Treasurer’s office. A valid phone number needs to be on any checks.

Payments can also be made at the following Banks with a current Tax Statement: Bippus State Bank, First Farmers Bank and Trust, First Federal Savings Bank, First Source Bank, iAB financial bank and Lake City Bank. No partial payments can be made at these banks.

Credit or debit card payments can be paid online at www.huntingtontax.net or by calling 800-809-5849. There is a charge to use a credit or debit card. Cards are not accepted in the office.

Payments mailed to the county treasurer must have a postmark no later than May 10 to be considered “on time.” The County Treasurer’s office is located in the Huntington County Courthouse, 201 N. Jefferson St., Room 104, Huntington.
