HNHS honors seniors bound for Armed Services

Sixteen Huntington North High School seniors who will serve in the Armed Forces after high school were guests of honor at a breakfast on Tuesday, April 26, in the school library.

The military enlistees make up 4 percent of this year’s 385-member graduating class, HNHS Principal Chad Daugherty noted.

Seven students have enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. They include Luke Clor, who is already serving; Van Bailey, Kolton Beard, Dawson Hertel, Cole Hahn, Sara Galo and Austin Best. They were welcomed by Marine Sgt. Tyler Hanson and Staff Sgt. Leco Barnes.

Jarod Miller and Gunner Wibel have enlisted in the United States Navy. They received congratulations from Navy Petty Officer Erick Leitch.

Elizabeth Mitchell and Jacob Septer will serve in the United States Army.

Braxton Heister, Drew Hinkle and Mykal Miller, who have enlisted in the Army National Guard, were welcomed by National Guard Sgt. Max Arellano.

Dalton Caley and Cassidy Butler have enlisted in the United States Air Force. They were welcomed by Air Force Staff Sgt. Stuart Jones.

Huntington County Veterans Service Officer Tim Eckert, Mayor Brooks Fetters and commanders of area veterans’ organizations were also on hand to congratulate the enlistees.

Seth Marshall, who has served in the United States Marine Corps, spoke about his experience in the military and what the new enlistees can expect.
