Program on dealing with shooters at 2 churches

A program on dealing with an active shooter will be presented at both St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Roanoke, and St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church, in Nix Settlement.

Roanoke Town Marshal Jim Wood will present both programs, explaining what the public should and should not do if confronted with an active shooter. Organizers say the chances of being faced with an active shooter at school, work or church are remote, but knowing what to do if it happens could save lives.

The program at St. Joseph Catholic Church will be held on Aug. 4, at 7:30 p.m. The church is located at 641 N. Main St., Roanoke, and the program is in the basement.

The program at St. Catherine will be held on Aug. 30, at 7 p.m. The church is located at 9989 S. Ind.-9, Columbia City.

The programs are open to members of all churches in both areas.
