Training offered for literacy volunteer tutors

The Huntington County Literacy Coalition is in need of volunteer tutors.

Tutor Training will be held at the GED Classroom of Work One on Flaxmill Road on Tuesday eve-nings, March 2 to 23, from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a brown bag dinner. Participants are expected to complete all four sessions.

Training is open to any adult interested in assisting others with reading, math, obtaining a General Educational Development (GED) certificate or improving their skills in English as a Second Language (ESL).

Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling Hallie Selig, Huntington County Literacy coordinator at 356-0824.

Literacy training and materials are offered at no charge to anyone willing to make a commitment to be a Literacy Coalition tutor for one year.

Tutors and students meet at several locations across Huntington County, including public libraries in Andrews, Huntington, Markle, Roanoke, and Warren.

Students and tutors set their own schedules for tutoring sessions.
