Kendall Mickley has announced that he is a candidate for the Republican nomination to the second district seat on Huntington County Council.
Mickley says he believes his financial experience gives him the resources to deal with property tax caps and other revenue shortfalls county government is currently facing.
Mickley, a lifelong Huntington resident, graduated from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, Bloomington, and has worked in accounting for various manufacturing facilities in Huntington for the last 18 years. For the past eight years, he has been employed as division controller at Gerdau Macsteel Heat Treat in Huntington.
Just as businesses have had to become more efficient to offset increasing costs, Mickley says, government entities must do the same thing.
Mickley is a member and past president of the Huntington Optimist Club and past president of Huntington County Baseball. He has also volunteered with Pathfinder Services, United Way and Parkview Huntington Family YMCA and is the current co-chair of the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce's A BIG Day golf outing.
