Cricket Wireless now has a presence in Huntington.

The store, which offers prepaid phone service, opened Jan. 2, at 2819 Walmart Drive.

“We’re not a contract service, it’s pay as you go,” says store manager Holly Smith.

In addition to Smith, the store’s crew includes Abby Crider and Selina Olivares.

The local Cricket Wireless store also sells phones — everything from Androids to iPhones — as well as phone accessories including cases and tempered glass.

Phones are purchased outright, Smith says, and service is provided by AT&T. All plans are unlimited talk, text and data and different plans offer different amounts of high-speed data access. The Cricket staff can help customers decide which plan is right for them, Smith says.

“They tell us how much they want to spend and we can go from there,” Smith says.

Cricket Wireless customers who travel to Canada and Mexico will find that their phones work as they do in the United States.

If a customer decides to end service, Smith says, there is no cancellation fee.

The Cricket Wireless store in Huntington is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. For information, call the store at 200-1068.
