The Huntington North High School Wind Ensemble participated in an invitational clinic at Lawrence Central High School, in Indianapolis, on March 15.

The ensemble performed for a group of university clinicians, who critiqued the performance and provided recorded and written comments. Clinicians were Dr. Jay Kennedy, of the Berklee School of Music; Dr. Doug Droste, of Ball State University; Dr. Dan Tembrass, of Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne; and Stan DeRusha, of Butler University.

In addition, Kennedy spent nearly 45 minutes with the ensemble, going over the music and offering additional comments.

The ensemble participated in the clinic in preparation for its performance at the Indiana State School Music Association organizational festival in April, where it will compete in Group I, for groups performing music of the highest degree of difficulty.

The HNHS Wind Ensemble will perform locally at the school’s spring band concert on May 9 at 7 p.m. in the HNHS auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door.
