Garlits earns HCCF Pyle Sr. Scholarship

The Huntington County Community Foundation has announced that Jake Garlits, of Huntington, is the recipient of the 2017 Frank L. Pyle Sr. Scholarship.

Garlits, a graduating senior at Huntington North High School, will attend Trine University majoring in computer engineering. He is the son of Gina Loshe, of Huntington, and Robert Garlits, of Wabash.

A member of the HNHS National Honor Society, Garlits was a four-year member of Huntington County 4-H Robotics, served as a middle school robotics mentor and Junior Rotarian and participated in Academic Super Bowl, peer tutoring and variety show. His community service time was spent with New Life Meal Ministry, FRC Robotics, Lincoln Elementary, Adopt-A-Highway and as a church counselor.

Ruby Pyle established the Frank L. Pyle Sr. Scholarship in 2003 to assist Huntington County students pursuing a two or four-year degree in electronics at Ivy Tech, Trine, IPFW or Rose-Hulman. Applicants must be Huntington County residents with a B or better grade point average attending school full-time.
