Huntington City officially broke ground on the Etna Avenue improvement project with a ceremony held Wednesday, May 24, at the corner of Etna Avenue and Waterworks Road. Pictured (from left) are Greg Smith of the Indiana Department of Transportation, former Huntington Mayor Steve Updike, Bryn Keplinger of the Huntington Department of Community Development and Redevelopment, Common Councilman Joe Blomeke, Huntington Director of Public Works and Engineering Services Anthony Goodnight, Mayor Brooks Fetters, Sherry Keplinger of Mike’s Car Care Center and Inspection Project Supervisor Morgan Reardon of Butler, Fairman & Seufert, Inc. The project, made possible with federal matching dollars, will improve stormwater management, create new curbs and gutters, widen the roadway, install sidewalks and link the area to the city’s network of multi-use trails. An ongoing project since 2008, the anticipated completion date is October 2018.
