Shanks to become president at OSV soon

Jason Shanks will join Our Sunday Visitor as president of the OSV Institute on July 31.

Shanks currently serves as chief executive officer of Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan, where he combined and reorganized five separate county-based Catholic social service agencies into one regional service agency that assists more than 20,000 people annually for the Archdiocese of Detroit.

Prior to serving at Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan, Shanks was secretariat leader of evangelization and parish for the Diocese of Toledo. He was previously involved in parish youth ministry and business and pastoral administration.

Shanks has a bachelor’s degree in education from Miami University, in Oxford, OH; a master’s degree in theology from Pontifical College Josephinum, in Columbus, OH; and a master’s degree in nonprofit administration from Mendoza College of Business of Notre Dame.  He also holds a certificate in fund-raising management from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, in Indianapolis.

In this newly created position, Shanks will lead the development and implementation of a new long-term strategy for the OSV Institute.

His appointment was announced by Bishop Kevin Rhoades, bishop of Fort Wayne-South Bend and chairman of the OSV Board of Directors.
