Olivia Eckert and Miranda Smart have been awarded scholarships by the Parkview Huntington Hospital Guild.

Smart is a 2017 graduate of Huntington North High School with plans to enter Ball State University’s School of Nursing in the fall. She is the daughter of Todd and Laura Smart, of Huntington.

Eckert will be entering her final year in the nursing program at Ivy Tech Community College, Fort Wayne. Her goal is to become a registered nurse and continue her career at Parkview Huntington Hospital, where she works as a patient care tech.

The daughter of Pete Eckert and the late Michelle Eckert, she was also a recipient of a Parkview Huntington Hospital Guild scholarship in 2016, as well as a Jill Dreyer Scholarship from the Parkview Huntington Foundation.

“Olivia continues to impress our scholarship committee with her work ethic, energy and positive attitude in serving others,” said Guild President Anne Malone. “Miranda also has a bright future ahead of her, and we wanted to help make that happen with this scholarship. It’s a pleasure for us to assist and encourage these special young women in pursuing their healthcare careers.”

Graduating high school seniors — or those who are already in school and working in a health-related field — who are interested in applying for a Parkview Huntington Hospital Guild scholarship should refer to the Huntington North High School Guidance Department or the financial aid office at Huntington University for application information.
