Mississinewa Lake to host fireworks and music

Visitors can watch fireworks by lake or by land at Mississinewa Lake’s Fireworks Over the Mighty Mississinewa on June 24.

The show starts at dusk. It debuted in 2016, and support from private donations made it possible to repeat the show in 2017.

Guests can set up lawn chairs and blankets to view the fireworks from the beach. Country music band The Mountain

Dewe Boys will perform on the beach to kick off the celebration at 6:30 p.m.

Volunteers will encourage free-will donations in lieu of the usual gate fee at the property entrance beginning at 5 p.m. Donations also will be accepted on the beach and at boat ramps.

Sponsors that gave $500 or more include David and Patricia Folck, Schlemmer Brothers, Quality Heating and Cooling, First Merchants Corp., Ivy Tech, Triple J Engineering, First Bank of Berne, Red Bridge Marina, ZZ Diesel, Bowman’s Heating and Cooling and NIPSCO.
