Veterans Memorial now bears the names of World War II dead

Three plaques memorializing the 95 Huntington County men who died during World War II were unveiled Friday, June 16, at the Veterans Memorial at Memorial Park, in Huntington.

The plaques have been affixed to a cement ledge that encircles the plane at the center of the memorial. A plaque honoring local men who died in World War I had previously been added to the memorial.

Funds for the plaques were raised by the Huntington County Veterans Council. Rodney Funk,  the council’s president, said the organization will now begin raising funds for plaques to honor those from Huntington County who died in Korea and Vietnam.
