The Huntington University Foundation will present Huntington Mayor Brooks Fetters with the Distinguished Service Award at its annual dinner on Sept. 21.

This award honors an individual or an organization whose life or mission embodies the very principles associated with the mission of Huntington University.

“Brooks is as committed to Huntington University (HU) and the Huntington community as anyone possibly could be,” says Ed Vessels, past president of the Huntington University Foundation.

“As a two-time HU alumni, HU Foundation board member, HU Trustee, volunteer and servant leader, Brooks goes above and beyond to help the university succeed as a vital element of the Huntington community.

“Brooks represents through his daily actions and leadership all that the Foundation Distinguished Service Award stands for, and we are excited to select him as the 2017 recipient.”

The focus of this year’s event is talent attraction and why northeast Indiana and cities such as Huntington need to retain the talent that they have.

John Sampson, president and CEO of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, will be the featured speaker.

The Sept. 21 dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Habacker Dining Commons at Huntington University.  Reservations are required and must be made by Friday, Sept. 15, by contacting Jan Yost at 359-4046 or jyost@huntington.edu.

The Huntington University Foundation annual dinner brings together foundation supporters, current students supported by the foundation and the local community to celebrate the accomplishments of the foundation.

The foundation raises money for Huntington County residents to attend Huntington University.
