SA to start taking applications for Christmas assistance Oct. 27

The Salvation Army will accept applications for Christmas assistance beginning Friday, Oct. 27.

Applications will be accepted from Huntington County residents on Fridays, Oct. 27, Nov. 3, Nov. 10, Nov. 17 and Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; and on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 1424 E. Market St., Huntington.

Those applying for assistance must bring a photo ID for the head of household and proof of address, in the form of a piece of mail or a lease.

Applicants must also provide an approval letter from the FSSA office or a food stamp/Medicaid case number. If the household does not have those items, proof of income and expenses for the last 30 days must be provided.

A Social Security card, birth certificate or Medicaid card for all household members must be provided.

The Salvation Army will provide assistance with food and toys for Christmas. Walk-in applications will not be accepted on the day of distribution.
