Two Parkview Huntington Hospital nurses have been awarded Jill Dreyer Scholarships for the fall 2017 semester.

Kathleen Leckrone, RN, and Amy Rosen, RN, each received $750 toward their education costs for the current academic semester.

Leckrone, of Huntington, is a nurse in the hospital’s Emergency Dep- artment. She is working on her master’s degree in nursing at the University of Southern Indiana.

Rosen, a Wabash County resident, is the hospital’s professional development and clinical care educator. She is pursuing a master’s degree in nursing through Western Governors University.

The awards were announced by Mike Perkins, director of the Parkview Huntington Foundation, which administers the Jill Dreyer Scholarship funds.

“The Jill Dreyer Scholarship is a great example of generosity at work at Parkview Huntington,” he said. “The program is funded by gifts from hospital co-workers during the foundation’s annual Employee Generosity Campaign and by proceeds from this year’s Parkview Huntington Community Gala.”

The scholarship was established in 2004 in memory of the late Jill Dreyer, a Parkview Huntington Hospital nurse. It provides four $750 scholarships each year to full and part-time Parkview Huntington Hospital employees pursuing a nursing education. It also is used to reimburse qualified candidates for fees incurred taking their final examination for various nursing certifications.

Since its inception, the Jill Dreyer Scholarship program has provided $25,750 in assistance to hospital employees.
