Old German School will celebrate autumn Oct. 29

A “Celebration of Autumn” will take place at the Old German School on Sunday evening, Oct. 29.

The Sharp Creek Musicians will provide music and Rosemarie Felts will discuss her experiences as an immigrant coming to America as a young woman from Germany. The public is invited to this free event, which begins at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

The German School was constructed in 1887 by members of the St. Paul’s German evangelical Synod to provide the area youth with religious instruction in the German Language.

After falling into disrepair the building has been restored and now contains exhibits which tell the story of the large German settlement which once existed in the area. The building is available for group meetings and tours.

The German School is located on the Wabash-Huntington County Line Road, three miles north of U.S.-24, at 3995N-1000W. For more information call 356-4218.
