Columnist will talk about Hoosiers whose fame has been diminished

Pete Jones will talk about “Three Famous Hoosiers You Never Heard Of” during a  meeting of the Huntington County Genealogy Society on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Indiana Room at the Huntington Branch of the Huntington City-Township Public Library. The community is invited to attend.

Jones, of Wabash, is a retired teacher and former newspaper reporter and editor who now writes a weekly column on local history for the Wabash Plain Dealer.

He has also written a monthly essay on Americana for the Ford Meter Box Company’s marketing department for 33 years and has had articles published in The Wall Street Journal, American Historic Magazine and several airline magazines.

He was a 2015 recipient of the Indiana State Historical Society’s Herbert Hawkins Award for local history.

This is the Genealogy Society’s last meeting of 2017. Meetings will resume in February.
