Afternoon tea

Helen Peare’s fur stole, hat and pearls are reminiscent of the finery ladies wore to lunch at the Hotel LaFontaine in its heyday, a time brought back on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at an afternoon tea at the LaFontaine Center hosted by Jean Gernand, Marj Hiner and Jan Perkins and attended by 48 ladies. They were entertained by harpist Alison Reese, daughter of Jan and Mike Perkins, and Mrs. Perkins shared her memories of the hotel when it was the home of her husband’s family. Marylou Wardop presented a tribute to the late Emmy Purviance, who was instrumental in bringing the then-vacant hotel back to life as a Senior housing complex.
