Customers of the Roanoke Lassus Brothers/ Handy Dandy staff recently donated money toward the purchase of cereal and canned goods for the Roanoke Blessings in a Backpack program.

Nearly 150 items were donated by the store’s customers.

The Sonrise Church, Roanoke Campus, in partnership with Blessings in a Backpack, provides a weekend meal to around 40 Roanoke area school children each week.

In addition to the weekly meals, the organization provides Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday meals through donations from church members, the general public, local businesses and community groups.
